Silver and Gold: Dining Room Christmas Decor

Well I am missing a couple of little gold Christmas trees (Target has failed me), but I think I’m done with the dining room. I found these little gold deer back in October on TJMaxx online. The silver antler candlesticks are from TJMaxx (about three years ago) and the table runner (that needs to be ironed) and napkins are from Target. All the mercury glass trees came from TJMaxx and Homegoods (from different years) and I purchased more of the mercury glass votives from West Elm. I found four silver hammered napkin rings and four silver shiny napkin rings so I just used them together. I am not crazy about the plates because they are too casual but I can easily use them since they are stoneware and they coordinate well with the gold on the table. I had some magnolias sitting around so I decided to use them as a centerpiece. I found this floral arrangement for $600 and attempted to recreate it. My mom had some budding stems and I need more but …

Red & Silver: Christmas Decor

My mom found this Hearth & Hand eucalyptus garland at Dirt Cheap. I wanted something to put around the window behind the sink and this light weight garland worked well. I found this cute Christmas towel at a local hardware store. They had a lot of chinoiserie Christmas decor. I need to go back and see if they have gotten in anything new. My grandmother gave me these glittery red balls in different sizes. I decided to add a little color and texture to the stairwell garland which leads you upstairs to the red and silver themed den. I am liking this eclectic den. It has turned into a mix of Asian, traditional, rustic, and bohemian decor, mixing old and a few new items. My brother pointed out that the art on the left side of the window look like two women (left and center) in traditional Japanese kimono, which I thought was neat because that wasn’t my plan when painting but makes me like the paintings more. We finally got the sofa! It is …

The House Is Too Tall For Lights: Exterior Christmas Decor

I would really like some icicle lights but the house is way too tall for lights. I purchased a spotlight to brighten up the front porch and I have solar-powered spotlights to brighten up the rest of the house. We finally replaced the flag pole and the flag. The landscaping is still on the to-do list. Painting the front door and frame is also on the to-do list. I am not completely happy with the wreath. I started with a grapevine wreath that I made with my parents a long time ago. I added a strand of glittery garland to the grapevine a couple of years ago. This year once I picked out the garland for the door, I decided to use this wreath and add in some pine picks, snowy pinecone picks, and cedar stems. I think it needs more snowy stuff. My mom suggested some shiny ornaments. I may try that next year. SHOP THIS POST
