Front Door Christmas Decor

Last year I purchased this flocked garland from Pier 1 and I added some flocked picks and pine picks to a wreath I had made a couple of years ago. I did not add any color, keeping it neutral. It was boring, so as my mother suggested, this year I added color. I found some red berry picks and red velvet ribbon. I had planned to drape two strands of the red ribbon on the garland but it was too wide, so I just tied a strand on each side. I also had two little black planters with mini Christmas trees beside the door last year but I decided the planters were too small. I thought about bringing out my blue and white fish bowl planters and putting mini Christmas trees in them with red bows but since I have the little juniper trees right by the door, I think the garland and wreath will do. Exterior Fall Decor

Last year I wanted something that would show up on the front door and would coordinate with the interior decor. I found white pumpkin picks at Hobby Lobby, as well as eucalyptus garland, deep blue flowers, and white floral stems. Instead of purchasing a new straw or vine wreath, I dug out an old grapevine wreath I had made years ago and had never used. I used fishing line to secure the pinecones and the garland. The wreath did not look full enough so I went back later and added some additional eucalyptus garland and willow vine garland. Since making this wreath last year, I have painted the front door and frame, replaced the door knob and deadbolt, and made pumpkin topiaries to match the wreath. However, the pumpkin topiaries are just too short. So for now, just a wreath will have to do. The yard is coming along. I have worked with what is there and replaced the plants that have died. I am pretty excited about cooler weather because I am finally going …

Spring Floral

It feels like spring around here. We are still working on the half bathroom and the master bathroom and laundry room will have a few minor updates. The goal is to be done with those projects by April. The next big project is the front yard landscaping. I am planning to paint the front door and replace the door handle (finally). I have a bin in my storage room labeled “FLORAL” and I decided to use the garland and stems that were inside bin. I purchased a grapevine wreath for about $7 from Joann Fabrics and starting searching Pinterest for ideas. I came across this hydrangea wreath and thought I could use the eucalyptus garland I found inside the floral bin in place of their clematis bushels. I do prefer the look of the wreath with the clematis bushels but the eucalyptus will do. I hot-glued everything onto the wreath. I have enough eucalyptus, hydrangeas, and roses to finish the other side but I am warming up to the asymmetrical look. The next wreath was …
