Tea With Milk

I know the English do it and many Americans (like my friend Carolyn) but the thought of putting milk or half and half in tea really confused me for years. However, I recently decided to give up coffee and drink all the tea I keep buying but never seem to drink. Here are a few teas I’ve been loving and a few others I tried. Teas With Half & Half or Milk Twinings English Breakfast Tea I learned from Anglophenia that English breakfast tea with half and half (or milk or whipping cream) is delicious. I of course use two Splendas. They refer to tea with sugar and cream as a “builder’s brew.” I also learned dunking a digestive biscuit is also amazing! You can also get those digestive biscuits at World Market. Republic of Tea Strawberry Chocolate You’ve probably seen this tea on a post or two before. However, add two Splendas and a little half and half, and you have a whole new experience. This is my dessert. I also drink this without sugar or …

Time For Tea Reviews

Yogi Vanilla Spice Perfect Energy I received a bag a of Yogi Vanilla Spice Perfect Energy from my friend Carolyn during one of our “tea swaps.” The company describes this tea as a perfect energy boost. This is a blend of Green Tea and Assam Black Tea, as well as  Ayurvedic herbs Organic Gotu Kola Leaf and Ashwagandha, flavored with vanilla bean and spices. My review: Pretty tasty, smells nice, and is a nice coffee alternative. 7 out of 10. Republic of Tea Blackberry Sage I received a sample of the Republic of Tea Blackberry Sage in their catalogue. This tea is a blend of black tea, fruit, and herbs. Finest quality tea leaves mingle with sweet, fragrant blackberries and cool, soothing white sage. My review: It smells really good and I think it is a good evening coffee alternative. 7 out 10.  Yogi Breathe My friend Katie loves this stuff. She has severe allergies and I think it really helps her breathe easier. The Yogi Breathe Deep tea promotes healthy lungs with Thyme and Eucalyptus. Warming spices Cinnamon, Cardamom and …

Cocktails

Apple Cider Bourbon My mom sent me an article which mentioned an apple cider whiskey drink served at a bar here in town. This inspired us to make our own apple cider cocktail. We failed to come up with a creative name for the drink. Ingredients (Serves 2) Ice Cubes 2 shots Bourbon 1 Packet Apple Cider Powder Mix 2- 3 shots Simple Syrup Crushed Apple Cinnamon Straws (optional) Directions Follow instructions on package to prepare apple cider and allow to cool. If you don’t have prepared simple syrup, mix equal parts water with sugar and heat until sugar dissolves. Cool before using. Crush apple cinnamon straws in a bowl, wet rim of a glasses and press into bowl to line rim. Place ice, bourbon, simple syrup, and apple cider in a cocktail shaker and mix. Pour mixture over ice and serve. Delicious! Sweet Blackberry Whiskey Once we got our bar cart set up we decided to make a drink with the limited liquor selection we  had (and currently still have). This was our first drink which is a modification …

Christmas Projects

My aunt flew me down South for Christmas and while I was visiting with my family, I got to help some folks with a few of their Christmas DIY projects, try some new recipes, and assist in some Christmas decorating. Wreaths It’s not Christmas in the South without a magnolia wreath. I haven’t got to make one of these in a while so I was happy to help my sister-in-law make this big beauty. Credit to my mother for my wreath and bow making skills. My sister-in-law and I made three wreaths total. The one below was a mix of left over boxwood and cypress that I stuck into one of the grapevine wreaths I made with my parents years ago. Now, my aunt made this wreath below. I just made the bow and attached one of her wooden stars. Decorations My aunt’s Christmas theme this year was “vintage.” She used a lot of my grandmother’s decorations like these ornaments. We found a piece of fury fabric and used it to emulate snow for the Christmas village. …
