Christmas Patio

During past holiday seasons, I purchased burlap and rustic Christmas decor to use along with my collections of pinecones, acorns, cotton stems, galvanized buckets, and magnolia stems. Last year I used my rustic Christmas decor on the back patio. But this year, with all my black and cream decor, I just added a few touches of Christmas. I found a cute doormat to layer over the tan woven rug at Pier 1 last year. I found this cute sign at Kirklands this year. It matches the pillow cover I used in the rocking chair. I hung the magnolia wreath on the garage door. I also found a cute Christmas garden flag last year on Amazon. I will be decorating the front of the house next. I am adding red ribbon and red berry picks to everything since last year the front looked a little plain. SHOP THIS POST

I found white pumpkin picks at Hobby Lobby, as well as eucalyptus garland, deep blue flowers, and white floral stems. Instead of purchasing a new straw or vine wreath, I dug out an old grapevine wreath I had made years ago and had never used. I used fishing line to secure the pinecones and the garland. The wreath did not look full enough so I went back later and added some additional eucalyptus garland and willow vine garland. Since making this wreath last year, I have painted the front door and frame, replaced the door knob and deadbolt, and made pumpkin topiaries to match the wreath. However, the pumpkin topiaries are just too short. So for now, just a wreath will have to do. The yard is coming along. I have worked with what is there and replaced the plants that have died. I am pretty excited about cooler weather because I am finally going …

Fall Patio Decor

Last year was the first time I ever decorated for fall. It was fun buying pumpkins and fall floral and I learned a few things that definitely influenced how I am planning to decorate this year. I am really excited for fall weather, pumpkin spice everything, and candy corn. Truth be told, I’ve already decorated. I haven’t put out my front porch decorations yet because I don’t want my neighbors to think I’m incapable of reading a calendar. I know the first day of fall isn’t until September 22nd but I was just so excited to decorate. For the patio last year I bought pillow covers, decorative signs, a garden flag, a pumpkin doormat, some ceramic pumpkins, and a floral arrangement. I eventually went shopping for real pumpkins and was very disappointed. Pumpkins (especially those pretty heirloom ones) are really expensive and might I remind you, real pumpkins rot. I bought two small ones and one medium size one last year, but not this year. Along with the cute pumpkin door mat, I found this …
