Christmas Living Room

I am still waiting on some ornaments and need some more ribbon, but I think I am finally done working on the Christmas tree. Last year I decided that after years of hand-me-down Christmas trees, it was time to buy my own brand new tree. So, after Christmas I bought a tree from Balsam Hill for over 65% off. It came with gloves to use to fluff the branches (no scratching your hands up). There were three sections, each wrapped in a red ribbon. Assembly was easy and there was literally no fall out. I did not have to vacuum anything.

Since I have short ceilings, I had to get the 7.5″ foot and I also got it unlit. So, I used twinkle lights. A couple of years ago I bought some velvet ribbon that was called “gingerbread.” It is almost a red brown but with a little copper sheen. Two years ago I tried it with red picks, a coordinating chiffon ribbon, and yellow-toned gold ornaments and accents.

Last year was the Charlie Brown tree so I was not able to do much to that tree and I was so disappointed with that tree, I really kind of gave up with the rest of the house.

This year I decided to do a neutral tree and decor. Any gold is subtle, not yellow-toned. I used all the mercury glass, my white and gold ginger jar ornaments, the rustic bells, and added in brown and amber tones. I tried some tinsel and hated it. My mom bought me some glass icicles so I used those and ordered more.

I love the Arhaus stag taper candle holder and candelabra I purchased two years ago during their big sale. I will probably keep them and my plain wintergreen wreath out after Christmas since they seem more like “winter” than “Christmas” decor.

Last year I found some olive green candles from Target. I used them in the stag taper holder and so in the new taper holder on the coffee table. It actually worked out well that the first shipment, they were not packaged well and broke in half.

I got out my faux paperwhites and put them in a silver container for the living room and a rustic flower pot for the kitchen. I used greenery everywhere with the gingerbread ribbon (over picture frames and mirrors). I also hung garland on the stair railing.

I also hung some rustic bells on the ends of the stair rails but skipped the pinecones this year.

I will be purchasing more garland after Christmas this year so I can use it on the lower stair railing.
