Decorating Plans

I really like making design boards. I cannot imagine trying to pick flooring, lighting, and paint without creating a design board to hash out all the ideas my head is constantly filled with (mostly due to Pinterest). Working with what I already have, and wanting to keep costs low, I opted for inexpensive lighting and flooring. I kept paint colors to a minimum. I did spend money on things like quality plumbing fixtures. I also need to move in soon, so I tried to choose things that were easy to install. ENTRYWAY, LIVING ROOM, HALLWAY To completely understand what I was initially working with, I have to share the photos of the house originally (when still occupied by the previous owners). There was no way I was moving in here as it was. To keep things simple and easy I chose two paint colors, Benjamin Moore’s White Dove for the north side of the house, and Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace for the south side of the house. The flooring is Pergo Outlast in Vintage Tobacco. …

New Living Room

MOVING We recently moved to a tiny town. It is the smallest town either of us have ever lived in. There is no traffic light or fast food but the scenery is pretty nice. The house we are living in (with a garage and a shed) has less than half the square feet of the home and garage we left. At the old house I had a bedroom that I used as a storage room (filled mostly with seasonal decor). One side of the garage is now used like that room. NEW LIVING ROOM Something that has been fun is seeing old items in a new space. The rug and record …

CHRISTMAS 2019 Last year I used silver candlesticks, votives, a red and cream striped table runner, pinecones, and white poinsettia arrangement on the coffee table. I’d been collecting silver Christmas decor for years. After Christmas 2018, my mom and I found a lot of red and silver ornaments at TJMaxx so in 2019 I added red to my silver tree. I bought tons of green stems and picks, red berries, red ribbon, and a silver star topper. CHRISTMAS 2020 The cute “Merry Merry” Christmas towel I found last year at a local hardware store is on the dishwasher. I ordered the chinoiserie wreath towel from Etsy. I replaced the magnolia wreath outside with a different wreath and hung the magnolia wreath over the oven. I repurposed my …
