Master Bedroom & Bathroom

Like most of the rooms in the house, I would like to paint the master bedroom and bathroom.  In real life, the walls and curtains look like a similar tan color but in photos the walls look really dark and yellow-toned. This room is also a mix of new and old. The blue and white plates, headboard, dresser, and nightstand were given to me by my aunt (they came from my grandmother’s house) and the other items were acquired over time. The rug came from Pottery Barn and has been worth every penny. The chairs are from Wayfair. The cream garden stool was purchased through Walmart’s website. A few of the blue and white plates were purchased from Replacements Ltd. I have a love/hate relationship with TJMaxx/HomeGoods (they are always so messy) but a lot of things like the pillows, lamps, and some of the blue and white ceramics were purchased there. Hanging these plates was a mathematical conundrum. I drew out what I wanted and measured the plates. My husband measured each plate, the …

White Pumpkins And Eucalyptus

This is my last attempt at a fall tablescape. I removed the navy and smaller white pumpkins from the center. I added additional eucalyptus for the large white pumpkins to sit on top of and then used the smaller white pumpkins as place setting toppers. I experimented with greenery and pumpkins on top of the china cabinet, but I was not a fan. The china cabinet is just too tall. I originally thought I would paint or modge podge chinoiserie fabric onto these white pumpkins but I am afraid I would ruin them. However, I am not thrilled with the overall look of these pumpkins. Oh well, I already removed the tags. I decided the foyer table was too busy so I left the fall floral arrangement but removed the pumpkins and eucalyptus picks. All the glassware and chinoiserie pieces seem to fill the table adequately. Every time I would walk by the dining room table and the foyer table I would think that they both looked a little busy. So I removed the pumpkins …

More House Updates

The next project is the backyard drainage, fence, and yard. The upstairs living room is coming together. We just need to purchase a sofa and a media cabinet. We will be replacing the light fixture on the front porch next month but no other electrical improvements are planned right now. Here are few updates. We have never had palm trees. They have proved expensive to maintain. They make for a pretty view from the pool, but I’m not sure if the view is worth it. The guest bedroom has finally come together. The room is rather small with high ceilings so originally I wanted a canopy bed but my mother pointed out that it was too small of a space for that kind of bed. I think the room looks nice and satisfied with how it turned out.
