BEFORE
This bathroom was hideous. I had never seen anything like this in my entire life. Obviously, there was never a question about painting, installing new flooring, and replacing the light fixture, mirror, and toilet.

However, in an effort to save money, I was just going to paint the tile in the shower/tub and paint the vanity. One day while I was at work, Levi and Anthony decided to just gut this bathroom, the master bathroom, and the master bedroom. I walked in and it was down to the studs. I was shocked but I am sure happy they did it now.

I wanted to use the Japanese artwork and the orchid that my grandmother had given me so instead of a wall towel rack or ring, I search high and low for delicate small black iron towel bar for the side of the vanity. I also hated that the only place for the toilet paper holder was the first wall that you see so I tried to find a minimalist holder that coordinated with the towel bar.
In order to splurge on the tile and plumbing fixtures, I found inexpensive flooring that I thought was cream but turned out to be more grey than I had wanted, a cheap light fixture, and an inexpensive vanity and mirror.

I needed something to fill the empty shower wall but I wanted to find the perfect color to coordinate with the vanity, shower trim and tile. I found this stool and thought it was perfect and could not understand the price tag. It went on super sale- like 80% off one day so I bought it and I use it every morning to get ready.
Same story with the pot that the orchid is in. Sale and free shipping, I was happy with the purchase.

When we had the kitchen counters installed, we got scrape pieces from the same company for the half wall ledge and the threshold. If I could go back in time, I would have tiled the other side of the half wall instead of having the sheetrock extending over.
This tile was heavy, especially with mortar. They were 24″x48″ and though I assisted, most of the heavy lifting was done by Levi and Anthony. They continuously expressed their frustration with the tile. But it turned out so good. I love the way it looks.

We hired a glass company to install the piece of glass. But they used the wrong clamps. They were supposed to be a bronzed gold color to match the other hardware finishes. The company refused to fix it so it looks like I am stuck with these copper ones and I know never to use them for any other glass projects.
My dad made the trim pieces around the shower wall. Trying to find the perfect stain was a long process. The local hardware store paint and stain expert went through probably 25 stain colors. She ended up making me stain that turned out great.

Eventually, I may switch out the light fixture, but all in all, it is a million times better than before and has the Japandi feel that I wanted.
