The first time you decorate for Christmas in a new space is pretty exciting. You aren’t sure how your stash of decorations will fit and you have to decide what are you willing to part with and what new things you need.

I decided out that I didn’t want the same style tree this year so I nixed the bright gold glitter and the shiny red ornaments. I found a ribbon called “gingerbread” which is a dark reddish brown and a fabric ribbon in a terracotta color to use around the house.

Since we were working on this house last year, I didn’t decorate for Christmas but the year before I used two pieces of garland on the top of my kitchen cabinet. This year it won’t work because the light fixture in the kitchen is too high so I used one piece here on the media cabinet.

My friend Beth, told me about a huge sale on this stag I had been eyeing. She suggesting using a wreath around the base. My bells on the cabinet knobs had a terracotta ribbon but from the front it looked like the stag was wearing a hairbow.

Since the overhead light blocks your view of the cabinet, the garland I normally put at the top of the cabinet, was used on the media console.

The kitchen renovation is almost done. Just a few more things to do. I finally got the command strips to cooperate with the wall texture and the garland stopped falling into the sink. I used the terracotta fabric ribbon by attaching strands to a bobby pen and then attaching it to the garland.

Most all of the Christmas decorations are obviously Christmas decoration but since I live in Wyoming, I will probably leave the stag throughout the winter.
