Dutch Industrial Coffee Table Phases 3 & 4

The third and fourth phase of this project consisted of cutting and gluing the reclaimed barn wood to a piece of plywood. Later the wood was sanded to desired smoothness, a clear coat was applied and then the wood was secured to the welded frame.

Dutch Industrial Coffee Table Phase 2

We are in the 2nd phase of the coffee table. After welding the legs and sides together, my brother allowed the metal to rust in order to achieve a rustic finish. I have to say when I first saw it I was a little worried because it looked orange. But then he handed me a piece of sand paper and told me to get to work. We sanded the entire table, wiped it down with a wet cloth and then he applied a clear coat. The next step will be installing the wood planks which is my husband’s part of project. Dutch Industrial Coffee Table Phase 1

Restoration Hardware’s Dutch Industrial Coffee Table is so pretty but retails at $1500. So, I have employeed my brother (a local welder) to make the table legs and frame. Using old barn wood from my grandparents’ house that my dad gave me, my husband will place the wood into the frame.
