Time For A Tea Review

teabags

It’s time for another tea review. All of these are samples that The Republic of Tea included in their catalogs. I received a sample of the Watermelon Mint Black Tea, Red Tea Pomegranate Vanilla, Cranberry Blood Orange, and the Organic Turmeric Ginger. I was so excited to try them but mostly about the Watermelon Mint because I love mint flavored teas so much. By the way, the diet green tea with mint from Sonic is awesome. You should try it. I have become addicted. I drank all of these teas iced (except the Red Tea Pomegranate Vanilla) and with sweetener. Now, on to the review.

Watermelon Mint Black Tea

The Republic of Tea describes this tea as follows: “This iced tea captures the essence of summer with the natural, fresh sweetness of sun-ripened watermelon finished with a touch of cool peppermint. A smooth base of fine black tea rounds out this bold, bright, refresher.” Well, it is sweet and smells great. It was not a minty as I had hoped and though it didn’t taste bad (it tasted like watermelon) it just wasn’t what I expected. It may have been too sweet (I can’t believe I just said that. That’s so un-Southern of me) because I put two packets of artificial sweetener in it (6 ounce glass). I like the idea of it and if someone served it to me I would drink but I don’t think I will be purchasing it. I give it a 6 (1=worst, 10=best).

Red Tea Pomegranate Vanilla

“Naturally caffeine-free rooibos (ROY-boss) red tea. With the sweet tart notes of juicy pomegranate, this cup is rich in flavor and finishes off with the sweetness of exotic vanilla bean.” I drank this hot when it was colder out. It wasn’t too bad. I know that it is red tea but the dark red color still surprised me when I made it. The flavor and smell was nice. Even though I won’t purchase this, I give it a 6.

Cranberry Blood Orange

“Tart-Sweet, fruitful blend of cranberries, black tea, and orange peels.” The Republic of Tea’s description is short and sweet. However, this tea was so good. Definitely the best of the four. It was refreshing and light and great cold. I am not a huge fan of cranberries and oranges but the flavor of this tea was very tasty. I will probably purchase this because it was just a great flavored, not overpowering iced tea. I give it an 8.5.

Organic Turmeric Ginger

Seems the longer the description, the grosser the tea. “The unmistakable, earthy aroma of turmeric, blends perfectly with ginger, cinnamon and pure honey flavor in this captivating, organic golden infusion. Clean green tea adds a freshness and body to the cup. Partake in the ancient wisdom of the far east with each savory sip.” I am not a huge ginger fan but I still thought this might be a tea I enjoyed. It wasn’t the worst thing I have ever had but it definitely wasn’t the best. If I want green tea, I will go to Sonic or I will drink The Republic of Tea’s Tropical Green tea. I will not be purchasing this. I give it a 4.
